FBI Director James Comey defended his decision to reopen the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails just days before the U.S. presidential election, during a Senate hearing on FBI oversight.
Many Clinton supporters say his decision is what gave President Trump the win. Comey told the Senate Judiciary Committee, “it makes me mildly nauseous to think we might have had some impact on the election.”
He said even with hindsight he would have made the same decision. He told the committee he kept the investigation secret at first, but ultimately decided it was his duty to keep Congress informed.
