United Airlines pilots are finally breaking their silence. According to a statement released by their union, they are "infuriated" by what happened.
In the statement, the union says the incident involving an overbooked flight --- which has now gone viral after passengers captured the violent removal of Dr. David Dao from Flight 3411 on cell phone cameras -- happened on a United Express plane contracted from Republic Airline, and was "ultimately caused by the grossly inappropriate response by the Chicago Department of Aviation."
The statement goes on to say the flight and cabin crew were all Republic employees. The union says United should be measured by more than a single United Express flight incident.
