Iraqi Troops Shut Down Last ISIS Escape Route Out of Western Mosul

U.S.-backed Iraqi troops took control of the last major road out of western Mosul, trapping ISIS fighters, according to multiple media reports.

USA Today reports Iraqi officials say they plan to take back Mosul government buildings. Reuters reports Iraqi forces captured the eastern side of Mosul and launched their attack on the areas west of the Tigris river on Feb. 19.

U.S. officials say they believe the US-backed forces will recapture both Mosul and Raqqa, ISIS's stronghold in Syria, within six months.
