The Pentagon announced today that the US Military conducted a drone strike in Somalia and reportedly killed up to 150 suspected Al Shabaab fighters. The attack was against what the US military says was an imminent threat to US Troops and general peacekeeping in the east coast African country.
A training camp which was under observation by US special operations forces was the focus of the strike. It had around 200 fighters who were in the final stages of getting ready to conduct what a Pentagon spokesperson claimed was a large scale attack. The location of where that attack might have occurred was not specified.
The Al Shabaab are a jihadist terrorist group in Eastern Africa who pledged allegiance to Al-Qaeda in 2012.
