President-elect Donald Trump is keeping one of his campaign promises. He said he would make sure workers at air conditioning plant Carrier would keep their jobs. Now, he's worked out a deal with the company to keep 1,000 jobs at its Indianapolis, Indiana plant -- not shipping them out to Mexico as the company had originally planned.
Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence will be visiting the Carrier plant Thursday. Fox News reports a Trump transition source says Carrier executives went to the Trump Tower Tuesday to work out a deal.
Employees say they are happy about Trump's deal. Senator Bernie Sanders says United Technologies, parent company of Carrier, took Trump hostage and won. Sanders says if corporations want tax cuts all they have to do is threaten Trump and say they're moving their jobs to Mexico. Sanders told the Washington Post the Trump-Carrier deal should "send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country."
