President-elect Donald Trump has named Steve Bannon, the executive chairman of Breitbart News as his chief strategist and senior counselor.
Trump's decision has set off a firestorm with his critics.
USA Today reports those against the Bannon appointment say Breitbart News "traffics in racism and anti-Semitism." CNN reports white nationalist movement leaders support Trump's choice.
Trump also named another controversial figure -- Reince Preibus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee -- as his chief of staff. According to The New York Times Trump's decision will upset some of his more conservative supporters, who see Priebus as someone who will be more likely to side with the Washington establishment then to fight against it.
Trump says Priebus and Bannon are highly qualified leaders who will work well together to make America great again.
